Facelift with Dr. Catherine Winslow
On my birthday in March of 2013, a decade after my gastric bypass bariatric surgery, I was a size 14 and looked every bit of the 49 years that I had turned. However, by the time I turned 50 in March of 2014, I was a size 2 and looked as if I was 30-something years old! Truly, Dr. Catherine Winslow of Winslow Facial Plastic Surgery in Carmel, IN, did an amazing job.
Facelift Before and After
I did a photo shoot in New York City to celebrate my transformation and turning 50-yrs old. You may view my facelift before and after photos on flickr. At the time of the shoot, I was 5-months post bariatric plastic surgery and 3-months post facial plastic surgery with Dr. Catherine Winslow. It was terrific fun — amazing fun — and I truly felt like a model!
Being ashamed of one’s face is a terrible way to go through life. I love my face now. And I am filled with gratitude every day for this precious gift…
In the year 2013 I underwent a magical time of transformation: I had facial plastic surgery and body contouring from my eye lids to my knees! It all began with my tummy tuck on April 18th. Those results were so dramatic that I decided to follow through on my long-held dream to do a total body transformation. First, I completed my body contouring plastic surgery with Dr. Joseph F. Capella on October 10th. This was a bariatric plastic surgery after massive weight loss to remove the excess skin and fat, which draped my body like an ill-fitted suit that was a couple of sizes too large.
Likewise, I was left with sagging skin on my face that aged me. So, on December 10th, I had facial rejuvenation with Dr. Catherine Winslow, a facial plastic surgeon. The transformation was stunning, beyond my dreams. I never though that I would have a face like this, now, at age 51! It is amazing what a highly skilled and gifted facial plastic surgeon can achieve.
Lasting Facelift Results
On a flight to California in 2014, the women seated in my row discussed what they had done to relieve the shock of turning 50 years old. One woman said she created a blog to journal her experience. Likewise, the other did something for her soul that was equally tame — I don’t mean that in a way to diminish their journeys, rather to contrast against my bold and daring experience. Indeed, I did surprise them and they gave a hearty laugh when I told them that I’d had plastic surgery to take the sting out of turning 50!
If facial plastic surgery is something you want, then have the courage to follow your heart sooner than me. Dreams really can come true!
More recently, I spent Christmas 2015 in Argentina visiting my children. My granddaughter’s 6-year-old friend asked if I was her aunt, not her grandmother. The child’s father asked my daughter in Spanish (which I don’t speak), “Don’t ask your mother this in English as it would be rude, but how old is she?” Oh, I do not find it rude. I am thrilled that my facelift results have lasted! (Note that I periodically get Botox and filler, as these products are not permanent).
The video, My Bariatric Life’s Amazing Transformation, in the upper right column of this page, captures the essence of how I feel. I hope it inspires you on your personal journey. It took 7-years for me to brave plastic surgery, and I am ever so glad that I finally did. If facial plastic surgery is something you want, then have the courage to follow your heart sooner than me. Dreams really can come true!
The 7 facial rejuvenation procedures Dr. Catherine Winslow performed during my plastic surgery:
- Facelift
- Neck lift
- SMAS to tear troughs (tissue removed from facelift added to hollows of eyes)
- Upper eye lid lift
- Chin implant
- Lip lift
- Filler to lips, marionette lines, and nasal folds

For the first two months, I looked like Dr. Winslow beat me up! But this wasn’t a painful surgery and I looked great by 3-mos post-op.
Dr. Catherine Winslow Facelift Cost
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have found Dr. Catherine Winslow. She is a facial plastic surgeon at the very top of her league and does not charge exorbitant prices. In fact, Dr. Winslow’s facelift cost alone was thousands of dollars less than the price I’d been quoted by Dr. Capella. That’s not to imply that a facelift cost should be your determining factor.
What is most important are the plastic surgeon’s experience and facelift results. Dr. Catherine Winslow has performed reconstructive facial surgery, repairing the devastating damage done to children in the Oklahoma City bombing. And she has performed more than one-thousand facelifts. Her body of work of facelift before and after photos is the most impressive of any plastic surgeon I have seen, anywhere, at any price.
A small crowd formed and their comments included, “Wow” and “You’ve lost a lot of weight” and various remarks about how stylish I was.
My total investment in facial plastic surgery was $15,000 for all the procedures listed above. I believe the facelift alone was $6-7k.
Kudos to Dr. Capella. He was very happy for me getting my facial plastic surgery with Dr. Catherine Winslow. And he admired her work, and she admired his work.
Looking 15-yrs Younger after Facelift
Being ashamed of one’s face is a terrible way to go through life. I love my face now. And I am filled with gratitude every day for this precious gift: Not just the way that I look, but also the way that I feel inside. And that is a wonderful way to go through life!
A very funny thing happened when I attempted to renew my driver’s license. I presented my passport for ID but upon looking at the photo taken several years ago, then looking at my face, then back and forth between the passport photo and my face a few more times, the woman at BMV asked, “This is you?”
I laughed and handed her my driver’s license, “Yes. Look here. It is me.” She looked at my DL photo and said, “This doesn’t look like you.” She said it in the most polite and complimentary way. She believed it was me, but was incredulous at how different I looked. The reality is, I looked like I did when I was thin in high school, only with a matured face that hadn’t been devastated by obesity and weight loss and time.
So amazed was this woman, that she called her co-workers to come and look at my “before” photos. A small crowd formed and their comments included, “Wow” and “You’ve lost a lot of weight” and various remarks about how stylish I was. Needless to say it was the very best experience I ever have had at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles!
